In today's climate of social distancing, couples forgo large events in favor of small, intimate weddings, and they seek out settings that check the five big boxes: beautiful, outdoors, private, quiet, and shelter in case of rain.
If you have already chosen your setting, that's wonderful and I can travel to your special spot. However, if you have yet to find the perfect location, scroll down to learn about a magical space with which I'm intimately familiar.
Imagine your small, intimate wedding taking place under a floral-bedecked trellis nestled in a sunny garden, or on a large, private deck facing the woods with the sound of a rushing waterfall in the distance, or on a covered porch overlooking a perfectly-manicured lawn.
Welcome to my home.
In a quiet, woodsy setting accented by beautifully-manicured gardens, a custom-built log cabin sits atop lush green grass. The centerpiece of the living room is a ceiling-height stone fireplace and an expansive private deck that overlooks the woods - all within earshot of a rushing waterfall.
Welcome to my home in the hills of Portland, CT, an oasis of greenery and fragrant flowers. My husband Dave and I discovered this wooded land over thirty years ago, built a log cabin, and raised a family. Now, it's just me and Dave and our two cats, but it continues to sustain us as a creative outlet in terms of growing vegetables, tending to flowers and trees, and maintaining a soft, plushy lawn.
Over the years, friends and family have chosen this setting for small, intimate events: weddings, vow renewals, special birthdays and more. Now, in the days of Covid and social distancing, we have decided to avail this setting to couples working with Judy.
From a spacious outdoor shower to a private guest room for changing or staying overnight, your small, intimate wedding can include the trappings of a country getaway, just 30 minutes from Hartford and 10 minutes from Middletown.
